Scraps of Color Pink and Grey Challenge

This is the card I created for the Scraps of Color Pink and Grey Challenge. I used a sketch out of the latest Cardmaker magazine. If I must say so myself, "I'm getting better!"

Card sketch 98

This is my take on the Card Patterns sketch last week.

I think I'm getting better by using sketches. Now I just need to get faster.

Happy Birthday Mom

Yesterday was my Mom's 77th birthday. I made this easel card for her and she absolutely loved it!

She's staying for the weekend and was able to keep me company while I made this card. She loves it too! I may have to encourage her to become a card maker!

Peachy Keen Challenge

I'm trying to work more from sketches with my cards so the Peachy Keen challenge is right up my alley. This is my take on the card. I tried to create a card without bling but I just couldn't do it!

All about me

I decided I needed to do a better intro on myself. I'm 53 and retired from a 32 year carreer in the automotive industry. Currently, and for the last three years, I work part-time at an auto auction...can't get away from automotive. I also teach sewing classes at JoAnn's and am scheduled to start teaching cardmaking. Sewing is and always be my first love.

I was married for the first and only time on August 30, 2009 to a wonderful man and my best friend Calvin.

It was because of my marriage that I wanted to get into scrapbooking. I, of course, wanted to scrapbook my wedding. This is the first layout I ever attempted. I still favor 8 x 8 pages.

That wedding album is still a work in progress. I don't have any children but my husband has one son and one granddaughter. I'm sure she thinks I'm some kind of nut because whenever she comes over I am always sticking a camera in her face. Oh just think of the scrapbooks that are to come! These pages were my first attempt at a mini album.

Although I do have a designated sewing room...not sew (pun) for my scrapbooking.

Most days this is what my dining room table looks like! We are working on a much larger craft room to consolidate all my crafts in one place. My scrapbooking equipment includes a Cricut Create, Gypsy, Big Shot and Cuttlebug. My most  accents are anything that sparkles!

In my spare time I enjoy riding my Harley Davidson Fatboy

making jewelry

baking and cake decorating

and canning.

I also enjoy league bowling, golf, playing the violin, reading and blogging! The jury is still out but I think I'm falling in love with card challenges.  Added to that I am a breast cancer survivor of nearly two years. Why do I do, all that I do? In the words of Henry David Thoreau, "when it is time for us to die, let us not discover we've not yet lived!

Tuesday Challenge at Sketches in Thyme

First thing this morning I created this card from the card sketch at Sketches in Thyme. Once I started, this card took on a life of it's own. I've decided to use it as the Valentine card for dh. I know he's going to like it as we are avid coffee drinkers in Winter.

A new blog

I already have a sewing blog but recently I've become obsessed with cardmaking. I'm not sure I want to maintain two blogs but am going to give it a try. My sewing friends might not be the least bit interested in cardmaking.

I absolutely love cardmaking. I would never have believed that I'd find something I love as much as I love sewing. I love the creativity it allows me to explore as well as the ability to share it with outhers. I only sew for myself but with my cardmaking I willinly share. Below are a couple of cards I've made for Valentine's day.
